Four firearms were seized in the Prizren region within a week

The Kosovo Police in the Prizren region reported that they seized a total of four firearms over the past week across several separate incidents aimed at maintaining public safety. According to an official police statement, the confiscations took place in both Prizren and Suharekë. The recovered weapons included three pistols and one AK-47 type automatic weapon.

The police noted that two of the recent incidents were prompted by reports submitted by anonymous citizens detailing instances of armed confrontations during domestic disputes. Authorities emphasized that the use of weapons in such contexts presents significant risks and will not be tolerated by law enforcement. In connection with these developments, the police confirmed that three suspected individuals were detained for a period of 48 hours, acting under the directive of the prosecutor’s office.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated against these detainees. The charges filed relate to “Unauthorized possession, control, or carrying of a weapon” and “Endangering the public.”

These actions underscore the ongoing efforts by the police to mitigate violence and control illegal weaponry within the Prizren area. The department stated that such proactive measures are essential to prevent further public safety incidents and ensure adherence to local laws.

The detailed reports confirm that the police are actively monitoring areas prone to conflict to prevent escalation.
