Following a fire incident at the Sferkë waste depot, which was accompanied by a protest, emergency services responded to manage the unfolding situation. According to confirmations provided by the Prosecutor’s Office of the Basic Court in Peja, initial reports indicated that one person required immediate medical attention and was sent for treatment to the Peja Regional Hospital, while other individuals received assistance at the site. Authorities confirmed that multiple agencies, including the Kosovo Police, emergency teams, and firefighters, are actively engaged in managing the incident.

The State Prosecutor has formally requested the deployment of additional firefighting teams and supplementary measures aimed at localizing and extinguishing the blaze as rapidly as possible. The incident has caused significant disruption, with the road leading to the Sferkë depot currently blocked. Furthermore, the KRM “Environment” stated that the area impacts an estimated 220,000 residents.
