KRU “Southern Hydroregion” uncovers 6 illegal connections on the water supply network in Prizren

The Regional Water Utility Company, Hidroregjioni Jugor, has reported the identification of six unauthorized connections within the Prizren Unit’s water supply network over the past week. Company representatives stated that these instances of unauthorized tapping were discovered by control teams during routine on-site inspections. Hidroregjioni Jugor emphasized that establishing any type of connection without proper authorization is against current regulations and constitutes an illegal activity.

The utility warned that such unauthorized additions significantly compromise the integrity and functionality of the entire water network. These illegal connections are cited as a primary cause of substantial water losses, which subsequently disrupt the consistent supply of water to consumers and diminish the overall quality of service provided. In response to these findings, the company issued a formal appeal to the public.

Residents and businesses are strongly urged to adhere strictly to existing legislation and refrain from establishing any unauthorized connections. By respecting the established infrastructure, the public can actively contribute to the preservation and efficient management of the regional water supply system. The notice further indicated that all identified cases of illegal connections are subject to review and appropriate action by the utility.

The company stressed that maintaining the reliability of the water distribution system requires cooperation from all stakeholders to prevent resource depletion and ensure equitable service delivery across the region.
