QMK: Strong winds have caused material damage in Skopje and Kumanovo; over 1000 calls have been registered

Following a severe storm accompanied by strong winds that impacted Skopje this afternoon, emergency services reported a significant surge in calls. According to the QMK, the single emergency number 112 received over 1,000 calls from citizens reporting issues across the city. The high volume of calls reflected the widespread disruption caused by the severe weather.

Reports detailed multiple instances of property damage resulting from the powerful winds. Specific incidents of damage were documented across several key locations. On Zhenevska street, a building sustained a damaged roof structure, which reportedly impacted several parked passenger vehicles below.

Further disruptions were reported in residential and public areas throughout Skopje. On Metodija Mitevski street, a falling tree uprooted and struck a vehicle. Another incident involving uprooted trees was reported on Nikolla Trimpare street.

Additionally, structural damage was noted at other sites. A damaged roof structure was reported on Trifun Buzev street, and a separate incident of roof damage was reported at the Fillo School. The collection of reports indicates that the storm caused varied infrastructure problems, ranging from falling debris to vehicular damage across multiple neighborhoods.

Authorities continue to manage the situation and assess the full extent of the damage caused by the strong winds.
