Volkswagen has introduced its latest full-hybrid system, which will be integrated into the Golf and T-Roc models. This new technology is designed to combine electric driving capabilities with high efficiency and extended range, crucially without the need for external charging. The advanced hybrid system utilizes a combination of two electric motors and a turbocharged gasoline engine.
Volkswagen states that this configuration delivers lower fuel consumption when compared to existing mild-hybrid systems. The energy required for vehicle movement is generated through two primary methods: energy recovery during normal driving cycles and from the gasoline engine, which powers a generator. For the initial rollout, the system is set to deliver a power output of 125 kW, equivalent to 170 horsepower.
A key feature of this implementation is its ability to operate solely on electric power for typical daily driving needs. During operation, the vehicle’s battery is simultaneously charged by the energy captured from the powertrain. This comprehensive hybrid integration aims to provide consumers with an efficient and versatile driving experience.
By optimizing energy use across both electric and combustion sources, Volkswagen is positioning the Golf and T-Roc to meet evolving market demands for sustainable and high-performing vehicles.
