The Basic Prosecution in Pristina has initiated the detention of three individuals, holding them for a period of 48 hours. The basis for this action is suspicion of abuse of office or official authority, alongside document forgery. This detention follows an extensive, multi-month investigation spearheaded by the Department for Serious Crimes.
This investigation was conducted by the Unit for Economic Crimes and Corruption, working in coordination with the Kosovo Police and the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI). According to the prosecution, two of the individuals held are civil servants employed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. One suspect works within the Foreigners Division, and the other is associated with the Civil Registration Agency (ARC).
The suspects, identified only by the initials F.Sh. and G.J., are alleged to have acted in collaboration to illegally issue residence permits to foreign nationals while utilizing their official capacities. The prosecution stated that the investigation uncovered irregularities related to the issuance process.
The measures taken underscore the seriousness with which authorities are treating allegations of misconduct within government institutions. The three individuals remain detained pending further proceedings by the prosecution as it continues to build its case regarding the alleged abuse of state authority and forgery.
