Houthi rebels in Yemen conducted an attack on two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea using missiles and drones. The Houthis stated that this action was a direct response to the ongoing blockade imposed on airports and ports within the territories they control. Saudi authorities confirmed that one of the tankers sustained damage and caught fire, although they reported that the crew members were safe.
The British Maritime Authority also documented the incident, confirming that the fire on the vessel was brought under control. This escalation follows a recent bombing of Sanaa airport by forces aligned with Saudi Arabia. The Houthi group asserted that this bombing was the catalyst for their retaliatory measures.
