An individual identified by the initials B.R. has been placed in pre-trial detention following an incident in Mitrovica. The Basic Court in Mitrovica issued the ruling, setting the detention period for one month, spanning from April 18th to August 18th, 2026, according to Hateme Haxhaj, a court spokesperson who confirmed the details to KosovaPress.
The Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Mitrovica has charged B.R. with Attempted Murder. Authorities allege that the suspect attempted to deprive B.M.
of life through a violent assault involving multiple attempts to stab the victim. Specifically, the allegations detail repeated stabbing actions directed at B.M.’s head, the left side of the ribs, and the back flank. As a direct result of the attack, the victim sustained severe bodily injuries.
He is currently receiving medical treatment at the Thoracic Surgery Clinic of the Kosovo University Clinical Center (QKUK). The court’s decision to detain the suspect for a specified month reflects the seriousness of the charges brought forth by the prosecution regarding the attempted stabbing.
