Police appeal in Albania regarding watercraft: Do not go to sea, expected deterioration of weather

The State Police in Albania have issued a public safety advisory urging heightened caution due to anticipated deteriorations in marine and atmospheric hydro-meteorological conditions. According to the official notice, vessels are advised to refrain from departing from the afternoon of April 24 through the morning of April 25, 2026. This restriction specifically applies to small passenger and fishing vessels operating outside the designated areas of Vlorë Bay and Sarandë Bay, and along the Dhërmi–Himarë–Sarandë coastline.

The police have specifically called upon the captains of passenger vessels to exercise maximum vigilance and to avoid any departures that might pose a danger to the crew or passengers. Furthermore, the advisory extends its concern to land travel, urging increased caution among all road users. Drivers of both private vehicles and motor vehicles are advised to take necessary precautions given the expected adverse weather.

The police emphasize that adherence to these guidelines is crucial for ensuring public safety across maritime and terrestrial routes in Albania.
