Large waves and strong winds in Vlorë, red flag raised on beaches

Strong winds and large waves covered the beaches of Vlorë this Sunday afternoon, prompting hundreds of vacationers to exit the water to ensure safety. Due to the deteriorating sea conditions, beach station guards raised the red flag, prohibiting bathers from entering the water. Officials urged both local residents and tourists to adhere to the signage and directives issued by the coastal guards, as the strong waves and associated sea currents present a significant risk to life.

Authorities advised the public to refrain from swimming and engaging in water activities until the atmospheric conditions improve. Following the evacuation of bathers, a substantial queue of vehicles, stretching approximately one kilometer, formed on the route from Zvërnec toward the city of Vlorë. The safety measures were implemented as a direct response to the adverse marine conditions observed throughout the afternoon.

Coastal management emphasized that the combination of strong winds and large swells necessitated caution, underscoring the danger posed by the unpredictable sea state. The public was strongly encouraged to respect the warnings and await improvements in the weather before resuming any aquatic recreation.
