Stojance Angelov, the Director of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue (DMSH) and Head of the Crisis Management Staff, announced enhanced support for volunteer firefighters. During a presentation on Sitel television, Angelov detailed plans to provide institutional backing and allocate funds secured through budget rebalancing to facilitate more intensive volunteer engagement throughout the summer season. Angelov highlighted that volunteer firefighters, who have previously served as integral members of the DMSH’s rapid response teams, will undergo formal institutional organization moving forward.
This restructuring aims to provide greater support commensurate with their efforts. Speaking on the dedication required, Angelov stated, “They go into the field, take risks, and often lose their daily income. This is why they deserve appropriate support for the commitment they make.”
The measures indicate a formal recognition of the role played by these personnel.
By providing dedicated funding and institutional structure, the DMSH intends to maximize the operational capacity of the volunteer force during peak seasonal demands.
