The Regional Water Supply Company “Gjakova” has issued an advisory to residents in the villages situated along the Keqe River regarding the quality of the local water supply. The company stated that recent rainfall has caused a significant increase in the turbidity levels of the raw water source. Consequently, current levels prevent the facility from treating the water to meet established national standards for potable drinking water.
Due to these elevated turbidity levels, “Gjakova” advises the public that the water distributed through the municipal network should not be utilized for any purpose requiring safe drinking consumption until further notice. While the water remains available for basic sanitary needs, its use for drinking is currently discouraged. In response to the situation, laboratory teams from the company are conducting continuous, rigorous physico-chemical analyses to monitor the water quality parameters.
The management of “Gjakova” emphasized that public safety is the primary concern. The company committed to issuing an immediate notification to all affected citizens the moment the ongoing analyses confirm that the turbidity has dropped within acceptable regulatory norms and that the water is deemed safe for drinking.
