Flooding causes damage to agriculture in Rahovec; Director of Agriculture demands compensation for farmers

Heavy rainfall has resulted in widespread flooding across several areas of the Rahovec Municipality, causing substantial damage to agricultural lands. Behar Thaqi, the Director of Agriculture for the Rahovec Municipality, addressed the situation, highlighting the extent of the agricultural impact. Thaqi stated, “Today, following heavy rainfall, several parts of the Rahovec Municipality were affected by atmospheric water flooding, causing major damage to agricultural lands.” He further pointed to the severity of the losses experienced by local farmers.

Specifically, he noted that the agricultural plot belonging to farmer Ilvi Jupa sustained particularly significant harm due to the inundation. The director elaborated on the extent of the damage, noting that the pepper crop planted on Mr. Jupa’s land was nearly completely submerged.

This incident represents one of the most severe cases documented following the recent weather events. The flooding has impacted multiple farming sectors within the municipality, necessitating assessments of the recoverable yield and the overall economic effect on local agriculture. Officials are currently assessing the full scope of the damage across the affected regions of Rahovec to determine the necessary recovery and mitigation efforts for the affected farmers.
