The Acting Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning, and Infrastructure, Fitore Pacolli, announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Acting Minister of Defence, Ejup Maqedonci. This agreement is designed to enhance inter-institutional cooperation specifically for the purposes of environmental protection. According to Pacolli, the terms of the MOU stipulate that the Kosovo Security Force will provide support to state environmental activities.
This support will encompass personnel, machinery, and logistical capacities, with the overarching goal of fostering a cleaner and safer environment across Kosovo. In a statement accompanying the signing, Pacolli noted, “We join forces for a cleaner Kosovo! Today, together with the Minister of Defence, Mr.
Ejup Maqedonci, we signed the Memorandum of Understanding that strengthens inter-institutional cooperation for environmental protection.”
The commitment formalizes a partnership between environmental agencies and the defence sector. By integrating the resources of the Kosovo Security Force, the state aims to bolster its capacity to manage and mitigate environmental risks. This collaboration underscores a multi-faceted approach to environmental stewardship, leveraging the operational reach and resources of the defence apparatus alongside specialized environmental expertise.
The resulting agreement is expected to streamline efforts and increase the effectiveness of environmental protection measures throughout the country.
