Rent numbers fall in the second quarter – Monthly rents reached 1.2 million euros

The Price and Rent Registry reported key figures for the property leasing market during the second quarter of the year. According to data from the MIA news agency, the registry recorded a total of 2,148 rental contracts, marking a 17 percent decline compared to the preceding quarter. Despite the decrease in overall contract volume, the total value of monthly rent reached 1.2 million euros, representing a 9 percent increase compared to the first quarter.

Analysis of the contract distribution showed that commercial spaces accounted for the highest volume with 935 contracts, followed by residential units with 630, and houses with 235 rentals. When comparing these figures to the first quarter, residential rents saw a 14 percent decrease, while the number of commercial contracts dropped by 8 percent. Conversely, the total value generated by commercial rentals increased by 20 percent, indicating shifts in pricing power within that sector.

Geographically, the Central Municipality of Skopje was the primary area for registered leases, accounting for 286 cases, with Ae following as the second largest contributor. Overall, the data suggests a divergence between the quantity of rental agreements and the monetary value of the rent being transacted across the different property types during this reporting period.
