Body of trapped miner removed from Bulqiza mine

The remains of a 40-year-old miner, identified as Ilir Koloveri, were recovered from the Tërnovë mine located in Bulqizë. The recovery followed an intensive operation after the miner became trapped within the facility following a workplace accident. Search and rescue teams, alongside police services and technical personnel from the mining operation, conducted extensive searches throughout the mine’s galleries.

These efforts culminated in the successful location and extraction of the body from the affected area. According to official reports, the 40-year-old miner sustained his injuries after falling into a shaft during his shift. The incident was compounded by a subsequent collapse within the gallery, which resulted in the body becoming covered by chromium material.

Following the recovery, the remains were transported to the Institute of Legal Medicine in Tirana. Authorities confirmed that a comprehensive medical examination will be conducted at the Institute. This examination is necessary to officially determine the precise cause of death related to the accident at the mine.

The coordinated effort involving multiple agencies was required to retrieve the body from the deep working areas of the facility.
