“Don’t victimize yourself,” Gëzim Sveçla of the VV responds to Përparim Rama: Clarify the messages

Gëzim Sveçla, the head of the Self-Determination Movement Assembly Group in the Pristina Municipal Council, responded to recent statements made by Pristina Mayor Përparim Rama concerning allegations involving his cabinet. Sveçla asserted that the personal life of the Rama family should remain separate from political discourse. However, he insisted that Mayor Rama must provide specific clarifications regarding allegations pertaining to the execution of his official duties.

In a statement, Sveçla addressed the issue directly, stating, “Përparim, your family is not and should not be part of the political debate. There should be no dilemma about this. But the family also cannot be used as a shield to evade questions directly related to the exercise of your public function.”

Furthermore, Sveçla explicitly denied that any assemblyman representing the Self-Determination Movement had published messages that implicated the Rama family.

His comments focused the discussion back onto the professional conduct of the mayor. The core of his response demanded accountability, making it clear that while the family’s private matters are irrelevant to the political debate, the actions taken while holding public office in Pristina require transparent answers. This indicates a continued focus on institutional governance over personal commentary when addressing matters concerning the mayor.
