A senior military advisor to the Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, stated that Iran had been prepared to launch an attack targeting three specific bases within Ukraine. Mohsen Rezaei, the advisor, reported during an interview with Iranian state television that Iran was ready to take action against three areas in Ukraine.
However, he noted that the planned response was halted after Ukrainian officials issued a statement suggesting the initial incident was a mistake. The escalation stemmed from Tehran’s accusation that Kyiv had targeted an Iranian commercial vessel. The vessel, which was reportedly transporting a load of iron, sustained damage during the incident, resulting in one fatality and injuring three individuals.
Kyiv had previously issued statements regarding the nature of the alleged attack. The statement from the military advisor indicates a readiness to escalate military action against Ukraine following the maritime confrontation.
