The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade, and Innovation (MINTI) has announced the commencement of intensified inspections targeting the composition and labeling of milk and dairy products across the Kosovo market. Minister of MINTI, Mimoza Kusari, stated that this regulatory action is a direct response to findings released by the Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV). The AUV raised concerns regarding the potential inclusion of undeclared ingredients within various consumer goods.
MINTI emphasized that the failure to accurately label product contents constitutes a significant legal violation and a form of consumer deception. Specifically, the Ministry highlighted that incorporating ingredients such as powdered milk, palm oil, or any other components without explicit declaration on the packaging is prohibited. Furthermore, the agency noted that the inaccurate representation of a product’s actual composition is subject to strict enforcement.
These comprehensive inspections are scheduled to begin on August 6, 2026, and will be executed by the Central Market Supervision Inspectorate (IQM). The initiative underscores MINTI’s commitment to maintaining transparency and consumer safety standards within the domestic market. The goal of the heightened scrutiny is to ensure that all milk products sold adhere strictly to labeling laws, thereby protecting consumers from potential health risks associated with undisclosed additives or ingredients.
