Previously, a player would accumulate a suspension after receiving three yellow cards. Under the new guidelines, a player will now face an automatic suspension after accumulating four yellow cards. Furthermore, following this initial suspension, subsequent matches will mandate a suspension after the player receives every even number of yellow cards, specifically after the sixth, eighth, and so on.
The second rule change pertains to the official stadium clock. UEFA has rescinded the previous regulation that halted the clock at the 45:00 and 90:00 minute marks. For the upcoming season, the clock will resume running during stoppage time, displaying any added minutes in a manner consistent with prior practices.
These adjustments aim to standardize disciplinary measures and improve the flow of match timekeeping in European club football. The changes regarding yellow cards and the clock timing will apply uniformly across all participating competitions starting in the specified season.
