The Judicial Council of Kosovo (KGJK) was unable to convene for its scheduled session due to an insufficient quorum. The planned meeting was set to address several key items, including the review of a request submitted by the acting official of the President of the Republic of Kosovo. Furthermore, the agenda included processing notifications received from judges and administrative personnel associated with the Serb community concerning the withdrawal of credentials.
The inability to proceed was attributed to the absence of four council members. According to reports, these members did not submit formal requests for leave prior to the session. The Chairman of the KGJK, Rrustem Thaqi, publicly criticized the absences.
Thaqi addressed claims made via email suggesting that the council was operating under a collective leave status, a declaration he stated had no official basis. Thaqi noted that he had received five separate email notifications from five council members, through which four of them indicated their inability to attend the proceedings. The failure of this high-level council meeting highlights procedural difficulties within the judicial oversight body in Kosovo.
The lack of attendance prevented the council from executing its scheduled duties regarding both presidential oversight matters and personnel status updates within the judiciary.
