Typhoon Dolphin impacted the southern prefecture of Okinawa, resulting in injuries to six individuals and power outages affecting over 50,000 properties. In Okinawa alone, five elderly residents sustained injuries, with three of those incidents attributed to strong winds. Additionally, one person was reported injured in Kagoshima prefecture.
Authorities have stated that the injuries sustained are not life-threatening. The storm caused significant infrastructure disruption across the region. In Kagoshima, approximately 39,000 properties lost electricity, while over 12,000 properties in Okinawa were affected.
Due to the severity of the weather, Japanese airlines ANA and Japan Airlines canceled flights to and from Okinawa. Separately, in China, the nation took preemptive measures as the typhoon approached its eastern coast. Authorities in China ordered the closure of ports and suspended all ferry transportation in anticipation of the storm’s arrival.
The typhoon generated powerful winds reaching up to 162 km/h.
