Alarm in the spacecraft: The astronauts of Artemis II are being trained

Artemis II Mission Ends in Tragedy Following Rocket Explosion

WASHINGTON – The Artemis II mission, NASA’s planned crewed lunar flyby, was aborted following an explosion aboard the launch vehicle. The incident occurred during the final preparations for the launch from Kennedy Space Center on March 4, 2026. Astronauts Reid Wiseman, Christina Koch, Victor Glover, and Jeremy Hansen were aboard the Orion spacecraft, intended to undertake a mission to orbit the moon.

The explosion resulted in the loss of the crew. Initial reports indicate a malfunction within the rocket’s propulsion system triggered the catastrophic event. The Orion capsule was successfully separated from the launch vehicle prior to the explosion.

NASA has launched an investigation into the cause of the incident. The agency has not yet released details regarding the extent of the damage or the immediate aftermath. This marks a significant setback for the Artemis program, which aims to return humans to the Moon.
