Inter defeats Juventus, but Chivu raises the alarm: We are not yet ready

Inter Milan secured a 2-1 victory over Juventus during a preseason friendly match held in Perth. The win marked the conclusion of the club’s preparatory tour. The goals contributing to Inter’s victory were scored by Federico Dimarco and Andy Diouf, whose diagonal strike proved decisive against Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio.

Earlier in the match, Francisco Conceição managed to reduce the deficit for the visiting side. Despite the result, the match provided several scoring opportunities for Juventus, notably involving Randal Kolo Muani and Kerim Alajbegović. Following the game, Cristian Chivu expressed reservations regarding the team’s overall performance, despite the positive outcome against Juventus.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Chivu acknowledged the win but emphasized that the team had room for improvement. “We can always do better,” Chivu stated. While noting that the squad concluded the tour without injuries, he cautioned that the team was not yet fully prepared for competitive fixtures.

“We are not ready yet. We need a few more weeks to achieve the proper maturity,” he added. The former player specifically critiqued the team’s performance during the first half, suggesting that the level of play was not yet at the desired standard.

Chivu’s comments suggest that while the 2-1 victory over Juventus is a positive step, Inter remains focused on continued development and refinement in the coming weeks.
