A serious traffic accident occurred on the Gostivar – Kërçovë highway yesterday, August 8, 2026, at approximately 17:10. The incident took place near a hotel facility in the region, involving two passenger vehicles. The vehicles involved were a Peugeot, bearing Gostivar license plates, driven by an individual identified as N.S., aged 34, from Gostivari.
The second vehicle was an Opel Astra, registered in Skopje, operated by Gj.P., aged 63, who hailed from Skopje. Upon arrival at the scene, medical personnel from Emergency Medical Services confirmed the fatality of the Opel Astra’s driver, Gj.P. The driver of the Peugeot, N.S., sustained severe bodily injuries and was subsequently transported to the Emergency Center in Gostivar for immediate medical attention.
Following the collision, authorities immediately secured the area. A representative from the Basic Prosecutor’s Office has since taken charge of the site to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. The ongoing inquiry aims to determine the precise cause of the crash on the busy highway.
