The acting Minister of Agriculture, Armend Muja, has reported that routine controls and analyses of various food items have revealed the presence of palm oil in several dairy products circulating within the Kosovan market. Addressing the issue, Muja confirmed that following the public dissemination of information regarding the contaminated products, he promptly issued a formal decision. This decision mandated the Agency for Food and Veterinary (AUV) to initiate a comprehensive market inspection.
According to statements from Muja, the AUV was directed to thoroughly analyze the affected items. The primary objective of this investigation is to assess the suitability of the goods currently available for sale. “After the food was published, the day I issued the decision, I directed the AUV to inspect the market, analyze the products, and, in accordance with their assessment, ensure that any unsuitable products are withdrawn from the market,” Muja stated.
The directive emphasizes a systematic removal process. The AUV is tasked not only with testing the physical items but also with implementing necessary measures to safeguard public health. The minister confirmed that the agency was mobilized immediately to handle the scope of the contamination.
This proactive approach aims to ensure that only compliant and safe food items remain on the shelves, thereby maintaining consumer trust in the local supply chain. The findings from the AUV’s detailed analysis will determine the extent of the recall required across various dairy categories.
