Police in Shtime responded to an emergency incident in the village of Muzeqinë on the afternoon of August 10, 2026. Authorities were alerted to an incident involving an elderly man, approximately 72 years old, who had fallen into a well located on “Veteranët e Lirisë” street while working in his garden. Upon receiving the call, police officers from the Shtime station immediately dispatched personnel to the scene.
According to reports, the well was estimated to be about ten meters deep. Responding officers initiated a rescue operation, with one officer descending into the well. This officer successfully secured the individual using a rope, while two additional officers managed the complex extraction process, safely pulling the man to the surface.
The prompt action by the police was credited with the victim’s survival. Following the rescue, the 72-year-old man was transported to the Main Medical Center for immediate medical assessment and care. The incident underscores the rapid response capabilities of the local police force when dealing with emergencies involving vulnerable community members.
