Genesis, the luxury automotive brand from Hyundai, has introduced the GV80 Hybrid, marking the debut of a hybrid variant for the popular SUV. This new model incorporates a sophisticated hybrid system developed by the Hyundai group. The powertrain combines a 2.5-liter turbo gasoline engine with two electric motors.
A key technological enhancement is the inclusion of a liquid-cooled battery, designed to improve temperature management and optimize energy efficiency. According to Genesis, the architecture allows the vehicle to operate predominantly as an electric car when traveling at low speeds or starting from a standstill, up to about 30 km/h. The hybrid configuration boosts the vehicle’s performance, generating 347 horsepower, an increase from the 300 horsepower produced by the gasoline-only model.
In terms of performance metrics, the SUV is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 7.1 seconds. The launch of the GV80 Hybrid is anticipated for the American market. Consumers should note that the pricing for this new hybrid offering is expected to be higher than the starting price of the standard version, which is listed at approximately $60,395.
This release solidifies the brand’s commitment to electrified powertrains within its luxury lineup.
