Kosovo Police have reported an incident that took place in Podujevë on Friday afternoon. The event involved a minor allegedly handling a firearm, resulting in an injury to a family member. According to a male complainant, his minor nephew was in possession of an AK-47 rifle.
During the handling of the weapon, a spent casing was fired, and the resulting blast struck the complainant’s 10-year-old brother. The injured individual was transported to the QKUK-Prishtina hospital for necessary medical attention and has since been reported as being out of danger. Following the incident, police conducted a search of the residence, during which one AK-47 rifle, accompanied by a 20-round magazine, was recovered and confiscated as evidence.
Legal authorities were immediately notified. The prosecutor overseeing the Department of Minors was contacted regarding the matter. The prosecutor has since directed that the case proceed according to established procedure, while simultaneously authorizing the release of the suspect under standard protocols.
