Accusations of espionage are raised against the Croatian pilot who served in KFOR and his Serbian partner – who had given the information?

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Split has formally charged a Croatian citizen, identified as J.I., born in 1971, and a Serbian citizen, A.M., born in 1979, with espionage. According to reports from Index.hr, the accused are identified as a military pilot serving with the Croatian Air Force (HRZ) and his long-time partner. The indictment filed by the Prosecutor’s Office alleges that the Croatian citizen repeatedly provided classified data to his partner during his service in the Croatian Armed Forces between June and October 2022.

Specifically, the charges assert that the pilot transferred sensitive information on multiple occasions. Furthermore, the indictment claims that the Croatian citizen was fully aware that his partner was collecting this data for the benefit of a foreign state, a foreign legal entity, and an individual. The charges bring to light allegations of the unauthorized transfer of classified military information.

The prosecution contends that the actions taken by the Croatian citizen constituted a breach of trust and national security protocols. The case centers on the alleged coordination between the military service member and his partner regarding the dissemination of state secrets.
