The Basic Criminal Court in Skopje has commenced a trial today concerning allegations of abuse related to the State Lottery (SHA). The legal proceedings involve former Deputy Prime Minister Artan Grubi and seven other individuals. The charges were formally filed on August 13 of this year by the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Skopje.
These charges accuse Artan Grubi and the seven co-defendants of jointly undertaking actions during 2023 and 2024. Specifically, the prosecution alleges that these actions exceeded the scope of the individuals’ authorized duties. The stated objective of these alleged actions was to inflict damage upon the legal entity known as the Joint Stock Company for Organizing Fate Games, which operates the State Lottery of the Republic of North Macedonia.
The total amount of damage attributed to the defendants in the case against Artan Grubi and the group is specified as 507,632,173 denars. All defendants are formally accused in this proceeding. The trial marks the beginning of judicial scrutiny into the conduct of the named parties.
The proceedings are focused on establishing accountability for the alleged misuse of authority connected to the State Lottery operations.
