The Basic Criminal Court in Skopje commenced today a trial concerning allegations of abuse involving the State Lottery SHA. The legal proceedings name former Deputy Minister Artan Grubi and seven other individuals as defendants. The charges were formally filed on August 13 by the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Skopje.
These charges allege that during the period spanning 2023 and 2024, the named individuals jointly engaged in actions that allegedly exceeded the scope of their assigned authorizations and official duties. The prosecution contends that these actions were undertaken with the intent to inflict financial damage upon the legal entity, the Joint Stock Company for the Organization of Fate Games, which operates as the State Lottery of the Republic of North Macedonia. The total amount of damage attributed to the alleged misconduct is specified as 507,632,173 denars.
All defendants face accusations related to the criminal act of Abuse of position and official authority, pursuant to Article 353 of the criminal code. The proceedings are taking place against Artan Grubi and his co-defendants, who are accused of violating established protocols in the course of their professional roles. The court is currently reviewing the evidence presented regarding the alleged misuse of official authority by the group.
