Inspection services conducted by the Agency of Food and Veterinary (AFV) at the Bllaca border crossing last week intervened to prevent the importation of two consignments of UHT milk originating from the Republic of Kosovo. The total weight of the detained milk reached 27,520 kilograms. The intervention was necessitated by laboratory findings that indicated the presence of aflatoxin levels exceeding the maximum concentrations permitted by current legal regulations.
According to the AUV, the quantities of milk deemed unsafe for distribution within the country’s market chain were safely destroyed last week under the direct supervision of an official veterinarian. The AUV confirmed that this measure was taken to safeguard public health. The procedure involved taking samples from both loads of unsafe UHT milk as part of the routine Monitoring Program implemented by the AUV inspection services for all food consignments entering the country.
This action underscores the regulatory measures in place to ensure the safety and quality of imported dairy products. The successful management of these two loads of milk prevented potentially contaminated goods from reaching consumers. The enforcement action highlights the continuous vigilance of the AUV in monitoring cross-border food supplies to uphold strict food safety standards.
