Besnik Tahiri, the Chairman of the Alliance, formally filed a criminal complaint with the Special Prosecutor’s Office of Kosovo today. The complaint names officials within the Kosovo Government, alleging that several decisions issued during August contradict existing laws. Speaking after the submission, Tahiri stated that the Alliance had previously cautioned about taking such legal measures.
According to him, the actions taken by the current Government have drawn criticism, with some legal experts suggesting the decisions may conflict with constitutional mandates. “Today the Alliance has filed a criminal complaint with the Special Prosecutor’s Office, as we warned, against the current Government, because in August of this year they made several decisions that, in our assessment and that of legal experts, are decisions that conflict with the law,” Tahiri stated. He further asserted that the scope of authority for the current Government is limited by established legal frameworks.
The filing represents a significant legal challenge to the executive branch’s recent legislative actions. The core of the dispute centers on whether the decisions implemented in August exceeded the legal competencies granted to the administration. By filing this formal complaint, the Alliance is initiating a legal review of the measures undertaken by the government, arguing that these actions lack proper legal foundation.
The Special Prosecutor’s Office is now tasked with reviewing the allegations brought forward by Tahiri and the Alliance regarding the legality of the government’s recent decrees.
