He argued that instead of requesting extensions or deadlines that fall outside of constitutional provisions, the matter of selecting a new president’s name should be resolved within a matter of hours. The professor emphasized that the qualifications and criteria for a presidential candidate are already clearly defined within the Constitution. He cautioned that any deviation from these established rules constitutes an unnecessary descent into procedural complications.
For Baraliu, adhering to the foundational law is paramount for the stability of the country. The continuous inability of political actors to agree on fundamental governance structures, he stated, undermines the rule of law and impedes necessary national progress.
