Police in the Gjilani Region issued 1,635 traffic fines within one week

During the period spanning August 21 to August 27, 2026, the police operating in the Gjilani Region conducted extensive enforcement operations aimed at enhancing regional traffic safety. According to the Regional Directorate of Police in Gjilani, the Regional Road Traffic Unit and local police stations were responsible for the enforcement measures, resulting in 1,635 fines being issued for various traffic violations. The enforcement efforts targeted key areas of concern, leading to specific citations.

Among the violations addressed were 15 fines for failing to wear a seatbelt and 27 fines issued for the use of mobile phones while driving. Furthermore, the police action resulted in the suspension of driving licenses for 37 individuals. In addition to ticketing violations, the police investigated a total of 48 incidents involving vehicles.

These investigations accounted for 27 accidents resulting in material damage and 21 accidents where persons sustained injuries.
