The appeal returns the case against the accused who set fire to a restaurant on the Ferizaj-Prishtina highway for retrial.

The Appeals Court has ordered a second retrial in the case involving individuals accused of setting fire to the “Berlini” restaurant in 2020 on the Ferizaj-Prishtina highway. The case names Besart Mulaku, Kushtrim Krasniqi, and Festim Krasniqi as the accused. Previously, the Basic Court in Ferizaj conducted a retrial, resulting in a verdict on December 26, 2026.

Following this hearing, the accused Besart Mulaku, Kushtrim Krasniqi, and Festim Krasniqi were sentenced to two years in prison. However, the defense attorney for the accused, Besart Mulaku, lawyer Teuta Zhinipotoku, subsequently filed an appeal. The grounds for the appeal cited essential violations concerning the provisions of law during the proceedings.

Due to these legal challenges raised by the defense, the Appeals Court has mandated that the case proceed to another retrial. This development marks a significant procedural step in the ongoing legal proceedings in Ferizaj regarding the alleged arson incident. The continued legal review underscores the judicial process concerning the charges against the accused parties.
