Political analysts remain divided regarding the prospects of Bekim Sejdi’s candidacy for the Presidency of Kosovo. The central obstacle identified by observers is the necessity of accumulating a sufficient number of votes within the Assembly. Political analyst Imer Mushkolaj commented on the recent agreement between the Vetëvendosje Movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo concerning Bekim Sejdi’s bid for the top office.
According to Mushkolaj, while the path for Sejdi to become president is theoretically possible, the immediate and primary challenge lies in securing the requisite majority of votes. Mushkolaj stated that although Sejdi has the potential to assume the presidency, the votes necessary for his election are not currently certain. He emphasized that the acquisition of these votes represents a fundamental prerequisite for the process.
Specifically, Mushkolaj pointed out a significant numerical gap: while there are currently estimates of 62 to 63 secured votes, the established requirement for the election of the president in the relevant rounds demands a minimum of 80 votes.
