A Russian citizen, Mikhail Shabunjin, 30, died by suicide after being located and surrounded by police forces in Montenegro. Shabunjin was suspected of involvement in a triple murder that took place the previous day at a shooting range near Danilovgrad. The pursuit concluded early this morning, at approximately 3:35 AM, in a forest situated above the Topla settlement of Herceg Novi.
According to Montenegrin media reports, police forces located Shabunjin. After being surrounded by officers, he reportedly opened fire on the police personnel before shooting himself in the head. Lazar Stepanović, the Director of the Montenegrin Police Administration, confirmed the details of the incident involving the Special Units and Special Border Police.
The incident marks the end of the manhunt for the Russian national. Authorities confirmed that Shabunjin was ultimately killed following the confrontation. The events unfolded after a search operation in the mountainous area near Herceg Novi.
