LVV with a symbolic action in front of the Municipality of Pristina, leaves trash in front of the municipal building

The Vetëvendosje Movement, operating from a center in Pristina, conducted a symbolic demonstration today outside the Pristina Municipality building. The group blocked the entrance to the facility using trash bins as a form of protest concerning the waste management crisis within the capital city. The nature of the protest was brief, as the private waste management company, “Pastrimi,” responded swiftly to the demonstration and removed the bins from the entrance of the municipal building.

Egzon Azemi, a local assemblyman affiliated with the LVV in the Pristina Municipality, addressed the media following the event. He clarified that the primary objective of the symbolic action was to draw heightened public and official attention to the deteriorating waste situation across the city. Azemi stated that the issue represented a “highly concerning problem” within the operational scope of the Pristina Municipality.

He emphasized that the persistent waste management challenges have become a significant public concern that requires immediate systemic attention. The protest served as a visible focal point, bringing the environmental sanitation issue to the forefront of local governance discussions. By staging the action at the municipal headquarters, the group aimed to compel authorities to address the perceived inadequacies in waste collection and disposal services throughout the greater Pristina area.
