At the municipal protest: The pure autocratic and dictatorial tendency of the LVV, we will not allow this

Pristina’s Mayor, Përparim Rama, participated in a municipal protest today, addressing the government’s actions against local governing bodies. Rama criticized what he described as the systematic blocking of funds and operations for local municipalities. He asserted that these governmental actions were impeding the functioning of local institutions, ultimately affecting the daily lives of citizens.

According to Rama, the current situation suggested that the institutions were being utilized by the government to restrict the populace. He stated that the repercussions of these blockades were directly impacting the citizens. “These institutions are being used by a government that exploits them to block the citizens.

It is not blocking the mayors, but the citizens, just because they did not vote for someone from the LVV,” Rama declared during the protest. Rama further characterized this governmental strategy as exhibiting “a dictatorial tendency, an autocratic tendency in development.” He emphasized that the purpose of the gathering was to collectively demand the rights of the citizens and the autonomy of the local governments. “For this reason, we have come together and we are here to demand our rights and those of our citizens,” he concluded at the protest.

The gathering underscored a significant point of contention between local authorities and the central government regarding resource allocation and local governance rights.
