North American Blue Energy Partners (NABEP), an American oil company, is set to assume operational control of several oil fields in Venezuela. According to sources cited by Reuters, this transfer of assets involves fields previously managed by Chinese and Russian entities. This development is linked to a broader oil production agreement that was announced last week by the U.S.
President. NABEP is slated to acquire 14 new contracts, expanding its portfolio to encompass a total of 17 projects within Venezuela. The company’s ownership structure has recently shifted; while it was previously associated with American oil magnate Harry Sargeant, it is now controlled by Venezuelan businessman Alejandro Betancourt.
Under the new arrangement, NABEP will gain operational control over the designated sites. Simultaneously, the U.S. government is positioned to retain specific economic interests.
The American government will hold rights to 35% of the shares and will receive preferential access to 20% of the resulting oil production. This strategic shift solidifies NABEP’s role in the Venezuelan energy sector, marking a significant change in the control dynamics of key oil resources. The agreement outlines a clear division of operational management between the private American entity and the U.S.
