Kurti critic: “In concrete terms, but the president is not a puppet”

Kosovo Minister of Justice Albin Kurti has stated his opposition to LDK-S candidate Lumir Abdixhiku for the position of president and against any attempt to replace the current president with a new nominee. Kurti’s comments come amid ongoing discussions surrounding the presidential election. He emphasized the need for transparency from the People’s Democratic Party (PDK) throughout the deliberation process regarding the presidency.

Kurti specifically called for the PDK to be open and forthcoming in its discussions. Furthermore, Kurti addressed recent proposals involving changes to the constitutional amendments, referring to them as “the absolute and the verb.” He did not elaborate on the specific nature of these proposed changes but indicated his disapproval. Kurti’s stance reflects a position of caution and a desire for a clear and accountable process within the political landscape of Kosovo.

His comments highlight a key point of contention in the current presidential selection, emphasizing the importance of transparency and a defined approach to any potential constitutional modifications. The Minister’s statements represent a clear indication of his party’s reservations regarding the current trajectory of the presidential election.
