Venice Man Dies After Drowning Incident Near San Polo
A 20-year-old man died following a drowning incident in Venice on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred in the vicinity of the San Polo area, prompting a swift response from local emergency services. Initial reports indicate that the young man was among a group of three individuals who entered the water.
Two of the individuals were successfully rescued by a passing boat. Tragically, the third person did not resurface. Firefighters were alerted to the situation around 5:30 a.m.
and initiated a search and rescue operation. Two crews from Dorsoduro, supported by regional divers, conducted intensive searches of the area surrounding the Guardia di Finanza barracks. Approximately at 7:15 a.m., the body of the victim was located and recovered.
Authorities confirmed the man was 20 years old and that two others were rescued from the water. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the drowning is ongoing. No further details have been released.
