High-Risk Building Demolished in Gjakova Following Safety Concerns

The Inspection Directorate in Gjakova has taken action to address safety concerns by demolishing a high-risk building in the “Dheu i Bardhë” neighborhood. The building, located on “Salih Aga” street, was identified as posing a significant danger to local residents. Director of Inspection, Isa Agushi, confirmed that the demolition followed multiple citizen complaints and assessments conducted by relevant authorities.

He emphasized the particular risk the structure presented, especially to children in the area. “This multi-story building posed a high risk to residents,” Agushi stated. “Following citizen complaints and the finding that it posed a particular risk to children, it was demolished.”

Investigations revealed that the building’s basement was structurally unstable and could potentially collapse independently.

Agushi explained that this posed a continuing risk to residents. “This building-basement on ‘Salih Aga’ street could collapse on its own,” he added. The demolition was undertaken as a precautionary measure to mitigate potential harm to the community.

Authorities continue to monitor the area following the removal of the building.
