AAK Backs Veteran Demands for Institutional Recognition
Pristina – The Parliamentary Group of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) has voiced its full support for the demands recently submitted by the Organization of War Veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), asserting them to be legitimate and crucial for institutional recognition. The AAK emphasized the urgent need for the institutions of Kosovo to address the veterans’ requests without delay. The statement, released on February 20, 2026, highlighted the significance of the National Liberation War and the sacrifices made by those who fought for Kosovo’s freedom and independence as the bedrock of the nation’s statehood and democratic values.
It stated that all institutional actions must reflect this historical and moral foundation. Specifically, the AAK Parliamentary Group supports three key demands outlined by the veterans’ organization: the approval of the Law for the Protection of War Veterans; the establishment of a special fund for compensation; and the recognition of the KLA as a legitimate military formation. “We believe these measures are essential to honor the contributions of those who secured Kosovo’s independence,” the AAK stated.
The group intends to continue advocating for the implementation of these demands within the Kosovar government.
