Akanji joins Inter definitively, almost finalized two-year contract – City earns 15 million euros

Akanji Set to Complete Move to Inter Amidst Serie A Title Race

Manuel Akanji is nearing completion of his transfer to Italian club Inter, with a two-year contract anticipated upon his departure from Manchester City. Italian publication “La Gazzetta dello Sport” reports that the permanent agreement hinges on specific conditions established during Akanji’s previous loan spell. The transfer was initially conditional on two key clauses.

Firstly, Akanji was obligated to participate in at least 50% of Inter’s matches. Secondly, Inter’s victory in the Serie A championship was a requirement for the deal to finalize. Akanji has already satisfied the first condition, having played a significant role for the club this season.

Inter currently requires only one point from their remaining four matches to secure the Serie A title, fulfilling the second clause and triggering the agreement. Should Inter achieve the championship, Manchester City is projected to receive approximately €15 million for Akanji’s permanent transfer. The Swiss defender spent three seasons with Manchester City before joining Inter.

The finalized contract will secure Akanji’s future with the Nerazzurri for the next two years.
