Albania changes legal provisions for the establishment of intelligent transport systems in Macedonia

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Aleksandar Nikolloski, announced significant legislative reforms aimed at modernizing the national infrastructure by enabling the deployment of intelligent transport systems (ITS) across the country’s road network. These legal amendments are identified as a core component of the nation’s ongoing reform agenda. The Minister stated that the initiative requires comprehensive legislative changes, necessitating the revision of five existing laws.

This overhaul is being executed through a collaborative effort involving the European Union Delegation in the country, alongside the Ministries of Interior and Local Government. Nikolloski confirmed that the integration of advanced intelligent technologies into the transport sector is a mandated requirement of the reform plan. To facilitate this modernization, the amendments to the laws are specifically designed to provide the necessary legal framework for the installation and operation of advanced systems.

The announcement was made following a promotional event for the State Inspectorate of Transport vehicles. The move underscores a commitment to enhancing the efficiency and safety of the national transport infrastructure. By updating the legal statutes, the government intends to accelerate the integration of ITS, thereby supporting the transition toward a more technologically advanced and responsive national transportation framework.

This cooperation with international partners, particularly the European Union, is key to realizing the full potential of these intelligent systems.
