Albania to Reopen Flight School in Vlora

NATO member Albania will reinstate its Flight School in Vlora, marking a significant step in bolstering the nation’s aviation capabilities. The announcement was made on Thursday by Defense Minister Ermal Nufi during the 75th anniversary commemoration of the Albanian Military Aviation at the NATO tactical air base in Kuçovë. The school, shuttered nearly two decades prior due to financial constraints and damage sustained during the 1990s, is set to reopen following a previous agreement.

Nufi emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “The reopening of the Flight School is a necessary step to ensure the continuity of tradition and the training of new generations of pilots and specialists.”

The facility will be capable of producing both military and civilian pilots, alongside training military and civilian air traffic controllers. The school’s return represents a commitment to strengthening Albania’s defense capabilities and contributing to regional air safety. The reopening of this school in Albania is anticipated to provide skilled personnel for both military and civilian sectors.

Officials involved in the event included state and military officials.
