Albanian Minister in Montenegro, Gjeka: Serbia is aiming to destabilize our country

Fatmir Gjeka, the Minister of Human and Minority Rights in Montenegro, outlined three primary reasons, according to his statements, explaining the current approach taken by Serbia and President Aleksandar Vučić toward Montenegro. Speaking in an interview with ETV, Gjeka detailed the concerns regarding the relationship between the two nations. The first reason cited by Gjeka relates to the Serbian leadership’s alleged effort to divert attention away from internal political issues and domestic challenges within Serbia itself.

Secondly, he identified efforts aimed at slowing down or impeding Montenegro’s integration process with the European Union. The third concern raised by the minister pertains to the influence and perceived radicalization of the Serbian community residing within Montenegro. Despite these perceived pressures, Gjeka stated that he believes official Belgrade is currently unable to enforce its policy objectives across any of these three domains.

When questioned about Montenegro’s ability to withstand such external pressures and influences, the minister expressed strong confidence in the nation’s resilience. He asserted that Montenegro is capable of managing these challenges. In contrast, he noted that his level of confidence regarding the current political regime in Belgrade was different.
